Frequently Asked Questions
What is grief coaching?
Grief coaching provides emotional support, practical tools, guidance, and a safe space to process grief and life after loss.
Coaching is not about “fixing” grief or rushing healing. It’s about helping you navigate life alongside it.
Are you a therapist or counsellor?
Seasons of Grief provides grief coaching and education, not therapy, counselling, or crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require clinical support, please contact a licensed mental health professional or emergency support services.
How is grief coaching different from therapy?
While there is beautiful overlap, coaching tends to be more present-focused and goal-oriented. Therapy often explores deep-rooted traumas or clinical diagnoses. Coaching is about companionship and education—helping you build a toolkit for living with grief today.
What types of grief do you support?
Grief can come from many different experiences, including: death of a loved one, anticipatory grief, caregiving, divorce or relationship loss, loss of identity, job or career changes, health changes or diagnosis, and major life transitions. You do not need to justify your grief for it to deserve support.
Do I have to talk about the details of my loss?
Only if you want to. You are always in control of what you share. We can focus on your current feelings and coping strategies without diving into the specific details of the event unless it feels helpful for you to tell that story.
How long is each session and how often do we meet?
Sessions are typically 60 minutes long. Most people find meeting every week or every two weeks provides the best rhythm for support, but we can adjust this together based on what feels right for your capacity and needs.
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are held virtually via a secure video platform or by phone. This allows you to stay in the comfort and safety of your own environment—perhaps with a cup of tea or a pet nearby—which can make these difficult conversations a little easier.
What if I cry or get emotional during a session?
Please know that tears are always welcome and expected. This is a space where you don't have to 'hold it together.' Your emotions are a natural response to what you've been through, and we will sit with them together without any rush or judgment.
Are sessions covered by insurance or benefits?
$75
At this time, grief coaching services are generally not covered by extended health benefits because they are non-clinical services.
How do I book a session?
You can start by visiting the 1:1 Coaching page and click on the Book Now button, or head directly to the Contact page to send me a note. We can schedule a brief call to see if we're a good fit for one another.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because appointment times are reserved specifically for you, at least 24 hours notice is appreciated for cancellations or rescheduling whenever possible.
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s completely okay.
Many people come feeling overwhelmed, stuck, angry, numb, or unsure how to explain what they’re experiencing. You do not need to have the “right words” to begin.
Do you offer group support as well as 1:1 sessions?
In the fall of 2026 I will be offering 2 group programs, Grief is Love and a Men's Grief Program. Registration will be begin mid August. Follow Seasons of Grief on Facebook or Instagram for more information.
What if I’ve been grieving for a long time— is it too late to start?
Grief has no expiration date. Whether your loss was yesterday or twenty years ago, it is never too late to seek support, process your feelings, and find new ways to carry your story forward with more ease.
Can I pause or stop coaching if I need a break?
Absolutely. Flexibility is a core part of my practice. Grief can be exhausting and erratic; if you need to step away or take a break for your well-being, we will simply pick back up whenever you feel ready.
